Videographer
Mostly Modern Projects seeks a reliable, experienced videographer with a solid knowledge and love of music, and a huge passion for what we do as an organization. The videographer will work with our sound engineer, our Artistic Director, Robert Paterson, our General Director, Victoria Paterson, and our Director of Operations, Carly Barnes. This job will consist of working full time for three weeks each June at the Mostly Modern Festival in Saratoga Springs, NY, and part time remotely after the festival July-September to edit and and wrap up videos from the festival.
Hours/Location
Festival (In Person): June 1-21, 2025, Saratoga Springs, NY
Part-time: after festival until August 15th; possible corrections and re-editing until September 15th
Compensation

Part Time (July-September, Remote): flat fee, not hourly, TBD, depending on qualifications, experience and skill set
Requirements
Proven track record of recording live music events. Experience recording classical music concerts a plus, but not required. Ability to refer to and/or read a music score also a plus, but not required
Familiarity an expertise with at least one major video editing platform, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Avid Media Composer

Attend festival June 2nd-June 21st, 2025 in Saratoga Springs, NY
Work with directors to establish “best practices” during and after the festival
Film the following events:
Two orchestral readings (3 hours each, single front-facing camera, minimal editing)
Three orchestral rehearsals for conductors (ca. 1 hour each, single front-facing camera, minimal editing)
Thirteen concerts: shoot three orchestral concerts and ten chamber music concerts. Note: the orchestra concerts will require at least three cameras with 1-2 back-up cameras; the chamber music concerts require three cameras.
Set up and operate three to five 6K and/or 4K video cameras. At least two of the cameras can be stationary, with an option to work with an additional camera operator for events.
Complete all post-production editing with sound engineer. Editing will include the following:
Editing between up to five cameras, with up to three angles. We typically use 1-2 cameras as back-ups, but need multiple angles such as back-center (especially for orchestra concerts), right isle, left isle, close-ups. This can be negotiated
Adding audio from the audio engineer
Basic titling, including work title and movement titles for multi-movement works placed appropriately directly in video
Adding a MMF (Mostly Modern Festival) logo watermark
Possible color correction if cameras are not calibrated correctly
Upload files to the MMP DropBox account by August 15th
Provide any necessary re-edits promptly through September 15th.
Note Regarding Equipment
Although it is not expected that the videographer owns three to five 4K-6K video cameras, this is a major consideration. Mostly Modern Projects does not currently own video equipment, so if the videographer has access to equipment and can provide it, this saves on rentals for three weeks. All of the cameras should be the same make/brand to ensure consistent video quality.
All of our performances take place in the 600-seat Helen Filene Ladd Concert Hall at the Arthur Zankel Music Center at Skidmore College.
To Apply
Qualified applicants should submit a resume and links to with at least three relevant examples of their video work to Victoria Paterson.
