Marketing Director

Mostly Modern Projects seeks a reliable, committed marketing director with promotional skills, an outgoing personality, solid knowledge and love of music, and a huge passion for what we do. The Marketing Director will work with our General Director, Victoria Paterson, our Director of Operations, Carly Barnes, and our Artistic Director, Robert Paterson. This job will consist of working part time during the year, and full time for three weeks each June at Mostly Modern Festival in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Hours/Location

  • Part-time (in person in NYC, Saratoga Springs, and/or remote): minimum 8 hours per week, up to 20 hours per week

  • Festival (In Person): June 1-21, 2025, Saratoga Springs, NY

Compensation

  • Part Time (Throughout Year): $16-$24 per hour depending on qualifications, experience and skill set

  • Festival (Each June): Compensation for this duration will be a flat fee, not hourly, to be determined. Single occupancy room and three meals a day included, as needed

  • With commitment, interest & positive results, this position could grow to full time, after an initial one-year commitment

General Requirements

  • Ability to answer emails, texts, and phone calls within 24 hours

  • Show up on time and work on site or remotely

  • Own and bring a laptop to work (Mac laptop preferred but not required)

  • Great communication skills, a sense of reciprocity, teamwork, interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Knowledge of and interest in the arts and entertainment

  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and manage a number of projects with total dependability

Social Media

  • Create and schedule social media posts to a yearly calendar for Mostly Modern Projects. This includes marketing for:

  • Fundraising posts for special dates and events throughout the year

  • Post to Social Media Platforms: Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Bluesky, and other platforms as needed

Print and Online Ads, Radio and Ad Sponsors

  • Wrangle marketing pieces (print and digital) with directors and graphic designer

  • Uploading assets: completed designs, logos, images, etc. to merchandise and marketing platforms as needed

  • Reviewing all marketing pieces with directors

  • Gather Artwork and place ads for upstate outlets (some examples: online, print, radio and TV: Saratoga Today, 518, Saratoga Living, Times Union, Saratoga.com)

  • Place, gather, and write listings for free upstate publications and online

  • Work with graphic designer and proof art with directors. For example, season brochures, banners, and ads (print and digital)

  • Gather local ad sponsors art and send to designer for annual program guide

Email Blasts

  • Oversee and manage Mostly Modern Project’s email marketing calandar, and the creation and distribution of e-blasts

  • Work with Directors to create the calendar plan for the year

  • Draft written content for e-blast campaigns, which are reviewed by MMP directors

  • Review analytics to see what is and is not effective, and adjusting future campaigns based on that information

Press Releases

  • Draft press releases, create presentations, and script messages for press, radio and online content increasing engagement

  • Send press releases to all outlets and do follow-ups. Wrangle any interviews, photos and information as needed

Merch

  • Buy new merch with directors and manage existing festival merch

  • Keep track of inventory, give suggestions, help increase sales and assist with pricing

Events

  • Set up Ticketed concert listings with directors

  • Set up group, discounted, and free tickets for local organizations in Saratoga Springs such as youth groups. youth orchestras, retirement homes such as Home of the Good Shepherd, Wesley, and Prestwick, etc. for select concerts. Keep track and follow up with and wrangle

Festival Requirements

  • May-June: Poster Saratoga Springs and other nearby towns: every two weeks in May, and once a week June

  • Attend all concerts

  • Lead all social media posts

  • Take “step and repeat” photos for each event

  • Make short video testimonials with audience members and students and faculty in the lobby throughout the festival

  • Lead and assign tasks and guide 2-4 social media interns as well as merch table interns for the duration of the festival
